Task force nets 145 arrests over two weekends

A task force comprised of law enforcement officers from all area law enforcement agencies made 145 arrests over two weekends in what was called one of the largest operations of its kind in recent history.

Fourth Judicial District Attorney Jerry Jones said the individuals arrested were charged with crimes ranging from drug violations and DWI to felony arrests on outstanding warrants.

"This joint task force has been for one reason," Jones said. "That was to flood areas with police officers, with marked police units, in an effort to slow crime in what we consider areas that are hotspots."

Jones led a news conference Monday morning at Louisiana State Police Troop F headquarters to announce the results of the task force.
