This election is point of no return

History is replete with those who have created, built, educated, discovered and developed all of the scientific and technical items that we, today, take for granted. From Galileo through Isaac Newton to Jonas Salk, Bill Gates and all the rest, we take the inventions and developments as routine with no more thought than our next meal, if at all. Each and every one of these talented men and women had one, essential element in common — they were, and are, individuals, working alone, as Thomas Edison is quoted, with 10 percent inspiration, and 90 percent perspiration!
But, there are other common elements unique to that special group.
During the time they lived, or are living, they were/are hated. Why? The answer is the jealousy and envy that society holds these individuals in. Their intellect, their wealth, their capacity to provide jobs and gainful employment to society, their influence, and, in some cases, unfortunately, the misuse of wealth to achieve power. The rule is, society hates a man or woman who excels, who breaks with the norms of society and achieves a status greater than the average, or who invents, discovers, achieves a product or knowledge that may be a threat to the established authority structure.
Some 225 years ago, our Founding Fathers devised a Constitutional Republic system of government that not only allows an individual, ala Russia or China or Cuba, to achieve and to profit, it encourages him or her to do so.
For 125 of those years, this nation thrived and many individuals became wealthy, built schools, hospitals and employed others to assist in their enterprise while earning a livelihood. And then, things began to change.
It was early in the 1900s when socialism reared its ugly head. The assault upon the individual had begun. The socialist concept that no person, regardless of education, talent, integrity, ability or morals could rise above the established norms of socialist society, other than the plutocrats who controlled that society, began.
Beginning in the 1960s, the assault upon the basic documents, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights that made this Republic possible, came under constant and consistent attack. The erosion of personal liberty, freedom and dignity is almost complete. No important scientific, medical or other invention has been developed in 20 years. Our children graduate from high school, and they can neither read nor write. They will be perfect socialists.
This election is the point of no return for our republic. If Barack Obama is re-elected, by 2016 we all, those of us who survive will be subjects of a Robert Mugabe/Zimbabwe-styled plutocracy! I pray there are those who understand what is at stake. God bless this United States of America.
