Grambling Tigers Keep up the Tempo During Practice
Last week was busy for the Tigers as they not only had two-a-day practices, but they also received a visit from GSU President Dr. Frank Pogue, as well as the annual rookie talent show. The G-Men continue to practice this week as kick-off of the 2012 football season against Alcorn in the Port City Classic is less than two weeks away. During the Kick-Off press conference in Shreveport on Thursday, Head Coach Doug Williams said practices have been spirited. "The tempo has been up beat", said Coach Williams, "Practice has been very competitive and the guys are really excited about the season. We just need to continue to work hard and get better each day. That is our number one goal."
Sophomore Quarterback D.J. Williams said he is much more confident at this point than he was last season and is working on being the best he can for the team. "I spoke with my Uncle Mike (Mike Williams), who played here at Grambling, and he just said that you have to be the best D.J. you can be." , said Williams, "I feel like I am mentally and physically strong and I feel like I have the best receiving corps in the SWAC."
The Tigers will return to the practice field today at 6:45 p.m.
This Saturday, August 25th, the G-Men will hold Fan and Media Day from 9:30 A.M. until noon at The Robinson Stadium Football Complex next to the GSU practice field. |
