'Rachel's Challenge' promotes kindness in schools

Rachel Scott was the first victim to die when Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris opened fire at Columbine High School in 1999.

Thirteen years later, Rachel's legacy lives on in schools throughout the country as Rachel's Challenge. This week, Ouachita Parish Schools held a rally to kick off participation in Rachel's Challenge.

Ouachita is the first school system in Louisiana to implement the program.
The Scott family established the program to continue their daughter's legacy of kindness and compassion, according to Ouachita Parish Schools Superintendent Bob Webber.

Webber said Rachel kept a diary in which she wrote about her belief that individual actions can change the world.
