Fourth bridge project gains steam

A proposed fourth bridge across the Ouachita River took one small step toward becoming reality Tuesday evening.

At a public meeting at the Monroe Civic Center, Baton Rouge consulting firm Arcadis held a public meeting to unveil the first stages of an environmental impact statement. The statement is the first of many steps the project must take before construction can begin.

Arcadis project manager Scott Hoffeld said the environmental impact statement will take roughly two years to complete.

"We're just beginning," Hoffeld said.
