Qualifying for the November elections opened Wednesday morning and early results point to some changes at the Monroe City Council.

On the ballot Nov. 6 will be the congressional and presidential elections. Also on the ballot for residents of the City of Monroe are elections for the City Council.

As of press time Wednesday, incumbent District 2 Councilman Gretchen Ezernack and District 5 Councilman Eddie Clark were the only two current members of the City Council to qualify.

City Council Chairman Jay Marx announced earlier this month he would not seek a third term. Also announcing she will not seek election this fall was interim City Councilman Ellen Hill.
