Landry Vineyards to celebrate harvest

Landry Vineyards outside West Monroe is wrapping up its harvest of red wine grapes. Owners Jeff and Libby Landry have invited everyone to celebrate the harvest Saturday night.

Jeff Landry said this year's harvest festival will be a little different from those in previous years. Because of the mild winter and early spring, he said, the grapes matured early. That means most of the grapes have already been picked.

"So far, we've harvested the Norton grape last week, and we got about seven tons of it. And then we've been harvesting the LeNoir grape this week. It looks like we'll get about eight tons of that," he said.

According to Landry, that's a good crop.
