by Jimmy Touchet - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Monroe Dixie Youth 14-year old All-Star team is headed to the Dixie Youth World Series to defend their championship in Covington, GA on August 4-8.

As 13-year olds last season, the Monroe All-Star won the Dixie Youth World Series played in Seneca, SC.

The Monroe team earned the trip thanks to their 2-0 series victory over the Shreveport All-Stars in the state championship series tournament held in Bossier City last week.

In game one of the state championship series, Monroe led most of the game before Shreveport eventually tied the game 8-8 with a grand slam. Monroe answered in the bottom of the seventh when Neville's Dixon Houston blasted a walk off grand slam to give Monroe the 12-8 victory.
In game two, Monroe continued to ride the momentum as they crushed Shreveport 13-2 to win the state championship.
