Restaurant garners international acclaim
Bishop Johnston has been a regular at Vieux Carré since the place opened because, he says, of the quality and variety of wines available.
That same quality and variety have landed Vieux Carré a spot on Wine Spectator magazine's annual Restaurant Wine List Awards.
It's an honor that no other northeastern Louisiana restaurant has ever received, according to Vieux Carré founder Dr. Jerry Fontenot.
"They look at your portfolio, your presentation, as well as what areas you have in your wine list," said Fontenot. "You have to have approximately 500 labels, just to start."
