Board sets meeting to fire superintendent

The Monroe City School Board has set a date for the firing of Superintendent Kathleen Harris.

The School Board could take up the matter of firing Harris as early as Aug. 28, if all the necessary parties agree to a hearing on that date. Harris has been suspended with pay since late June.

The School Board, attorneys representing the board, Harris and her attorneys must agree to attend the hearing before a firm date can be set.

At a specially called meeting held Monday morning, the School Board voted 5-2 to accept a list of nine charges prepared by Dennis Blunt, a Baton Rouge attorney.
