Marx passes on third Monroe City Council term

Monroe City Council chairman Jay Marx says he will not seek re-election this fall.
Monday, Marx issued a prepared statement in which he revealed he will not seek re-election in municipal elections scheduled for November.

"Four years ago, it was my belief that two terms on the City Council should be the extent of my service in that capacity," Marx said in the statement. "I have given this matter much consideration in recent weeks, and I find that I still feel the same now as I did then."

Marx was first elected to the Monroe City Council in 2004. He was re-elected in 2008 and has served as chairman of the City Council since 2009.
