The West Ouachita Sports Youth Association (WOYSA) is currently holding registration for its upcoming youth football season. Parents can register their child online at www.woysaonline.com or at Academy Sports on Saturday, August 4 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Registration Fee for the 2012 football season is $75. Parents can rent a helmet and pads for $45 or just the helmet for $25 or just pads for $25. WOYSA only accepts cash or money orders for registration and rental fees.

Parents must present a copy of your child's birth certificate to their assigned coach with theirregistration before their child is eligible to play.

WOYSA will hold a coaches meeting on August 7 and short and shirt practices can officially begin for teams on August 13. The last day for registration is August 24th. Equipment rental will take place at the WOYSA complex on Saturday, August 25.

WOYSA will hosts its annual football jamboree on Saturday, September 8th and the regular season will begin on Saturday, September 15. The regular season will conclude on October 27. The WOYSA Toy Bowl will take place at the WOYSA complex on Thursday, November 1 and the WOYSA Super Bowl will be on Saturday, November 3. The location of the WOYSA will be announced at a later date.

Each division is divided based on each child's age as of September 1, 2012.

The WOYSA league divided into the following age divisions: Wee-Ball (4-year olds), Flag (5-year olds), Flag (6-year olds), Junior Tackle (7-year olds / weight limit is 130 lbs.), Junior Tackle (8-year olds / weight limit is 140 lbs.), Tackle 1 (9-year olds / weight limit is 170 lbs.), Tackle 1 (10-year olds / weight limit is 120 lbs.) and Tackle 2 (11 to 12- year olds / weight limit is 195 lbs.).

Prospective football player members must play with the age appropriate team of the school that they are zoned for. Football players attending the same elementary school shall play on the same team provided that it is represented by the appropriate number of players in the appropriate division and age group.

Players attending elementary schools not represented by a team shall be temporarily assigned to another elementary school team by the Football Commissioner for the current season only. If the following season a team is organized at the players attending the elementary school, then he/she will be assigned to play for said team. If no team is organized, the player will again be temporarily assigned to the last team he/she participated unless approved by the Football Commissioner.

WOYSA has the following weight requirements for ball carriers for
each division: 7-year olds limit is 90 lbs., 8-year olds limit is 100 lbs, 9-year olds limit is 110 lbs , 10 year olds limit is 120 lbs. and 11 & 12 year olds limit is 135 lbs.

A child over maximum weight in tackle division may move to next tackle level with signed waiver from parent. Players whose body weight exceeds 195 lbs. are ineligible for play at WOYSA. There will be no exceptions to these rules.
