Couple dies in apparent murder-suicide
Authorities have released the identities of two individuals who died in an apparent murder-suicide in northern Ouachita Parish last week.
The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a residential fire at Town East Drive in Monroe around 2:49 a.m. on July 18. Upon arrival, deputies removed two deceased individuals.
OPSO Maj. Jason Pleasant identified the couple as retired deputy sheriff Eddie Ward, 66, and his wife, Emily Ward, 65, a retired teacher of nursing at University of Louisiana-Monroe.
