Local market continues to improve

The real estate market in northeast Louisiana continues to chug along. Much like the train in the story of The Little Engine That Could, the business community continues to move forward, slowly but surely. There are, however, several areas in the Monroe, West Monroe and surrounding areas that have seen exceptional growth, boosting the economy in the area.

The first area of growth is the Cypress Street corridor in West Monroe. Cypress Street from Copley Street to Avant Road has seen quite a lot of recent construction, starting with Gilley's Heating and Cooling, Dollar General Store, West Monroe Convenience Clinic, Julia Place Office Condos (under construction), Sonic Drive-In, Family Dollar, Taco Bandito, a convenience store at Downing Pines (under construction), Guaranty Bank (under construction), and Anytime Fitness (with Knuckleheads).

The old Claiborne School lot has finally seen new life. It began with the Burger King on Cypress, now Zaxby's Restaurant has recently opened, just off Cypress Street along Wallace Dean Road. Randall McDonald and his team have really created synergism, with the Subway restaurant next door.
