Work nears on canal projects

A pair of canal projects in western Ouachita Parish took one more step toward reality Monday night.

After months of discussion and planning, the Ouachita Parish Police Jury unanimously approved a series of measures to move forward with improvements to the T-1A canal and Vernon Street canal. The Police Jury acted the matters during its regular meeting.

"It's going to be soon that we'll be able to put those out for bid," said Police Jury treasurer Brad Cammack.

Cammack told police jurors that the T-1A Canal project was moving forward quickly.
