Local track stars going to nationals
This past weekend, the Peak Performance Track Club competed in the Region 6 Junior Olympics Track and Field Championships in Murfreesboro, TN and had it's best showing ever in the event.
In all, Peak Performance qualified 28 athletes in 43 events for the National Junior Olympics Championships that will be held on July 23-29, 2012 in Baltimore, MD.
To qualify for the National Championships, the athletes had to finish in the top five places at the Regional meet that consisted of 900 plus athletes and 47 teams from Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
The Peak Performance Track Club earned a total of 26 medals, 8-Gold, 11-Silver, & 7-Bronze.
Two meet records were also broken by Kimora Daniels in the Sub-Bantam division (6-8 years old) and Kenton Davis in the Youth division (13-14 years old). Kimora tied the American Youth record and broke the Region 6 record in the shot put with a throw of 6.69 meters (21'11 ½"). Kenton broke the Region 6 record by High Jumping 1.85 meters (6' ¾").
