Property taxes hold steady Property taxes in the City of West Monroe will not increase this year thanks to a decision by the city's Board of Aldermen.
Aldermen agreed at their regular meeting Tuesday night meeting to maintain the current rate of 8.62 mills for 2012.
West Monroe Mayor Dave Norris said despite tough economic times, the city has a strong tax base. Norris cited several reasons.
"We're a relatively small city, population-wise, with a disproportionate retail base," Norris said. "And that helps us a lot.
