McFarland accuses Krutzer of micromanagement

A series of proposed cost-savings measures aimed at trimming a $2.1-million deficit in the Monroe city school system will go back to the committee that drafted the recommendations since one board member objected to what he called micromanagement.

At a regular meeting Tuesday night, the Monroe City School Board was set to consider eight recommendations from the School Board Finance Committee. Those recommendations included suspension of all employee pay raises, the elimination of sabbaticals, a hiring freeze and a ban on any travel to be paid from the General Fund.

School Board Member Rodney McFarland objected to the recommendations and said he would not support them because he believed all of the recommendations amounted to micromanagement from School Board member Vickie Krutzer, who chairs the Finance Committee.
