We are so fortunate to live at this time during the long hot days of summer...air conditioning, television, computers, cell phones, iPads and every convenience at our fingertips so that we are entertained and comfortable watching the Olympic trials from Omaha, Wimbledon tennis, and Tiger Woods win his 74th major golf tournament, one ahead of Jack Nicklaus.

First West members heard a dynamic presentation from executive pastor Toby Frost, who reminded us that we are not some special beings created in heaven, but sinners saved by the grace of God. We enjoyed the music and message in the most comfortable worship center, while 50 of our members are working in Wales with those who do not know the Christ.

Trusting in the Lord is not dependent on our external circumstances, but on our relationship with God Himself. When we worry, it is because we plan without God! And all of the evils that we dislike in others would be exhibited in us except for the grace of God.

Martha Jane Anderson retired from University of Louisiana-Monroe after 35 years of service as Assistant Dean of Students and SGA Advisor. She is married to Patrick H. Anderson Sr., has two children, and four grandchildren.
