Monroe City School Board suspends Harris

The Monroe City School Board placed Superintendent Kathleen Harris on suspension pending the outcome of an investigation into her conduct.

Meanwhile, the School Board approved hiring Baton Rouge attorney Dennis Blunt to conduct the investigation. Monroe City Schools finance director Derrinda Flowers will serve as interim superintendent pending the outcome of Blunt's work.

The School Board took those actions in a series of votes held at a sometimes-contentious meeting held Tuesday night.

The first matter before the School Board involved a resolution, prepared by Blunt, that laid out a series of complaints to be investigated.
