ULM renames program after DeGree

The name Kitty DeGree has long been synonymous with northeast Louisiana philanthropy.

The retired real estate developer has dedicated significant resources to education, through grants to the University of Louisiana-Monroe and Delta Community College. Of late, DeGree's name has graced hospital walls at St. Francis Medical Center, where she has sponsored new developments such as the Kitty DeGree Breast Health Center.

To honor DeGree's life of service, ULM President Nick Bruno has renamed the university's nursing program in her honor.

The Kitty DeGree School of Nursing was approved by the University of Louisiana System board at a meeting Monday.
