Community Trust Bank commercials win Telly Awards

Community Trust Bank, along with their advertising partner, The Greystone Project, have received international recognition for the bank's Terry Bradshaw commercials. The three Bradshaw commercials — "High Five," "Bad Radio" and "Fee Phobia" — won a 2012 Bronze Award in the 33rd Annual Telly Awards for TV & Multi-Market Cable as a campaign.

The bank's "Bad Radio" spot also received a 2012 Bronze Award as a solo entry. The Bronze Telly is the second highest honor awarded by the Silver Telly Council.

Previous Telly Award winners include such brands as Goodyear, Disney, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Bass Pro Shops and GEICO, to name a few.

"With nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, being selected for a Telly Award is truly and honor," said Drake Mills, President and CEO of Community Trust Bank. "We wanted to portray our unique service culture in our advertising and I think we were able to do that with a little humor."

"The credit goes to Terry (Bradshaw). His comfort with natural humor made the scripts work," said Jeff Johnston, CEO of The Greystone Project and producer of the campaign. "For a project this size there are a lot of contributors. First, our marketing lead at the bank, Michelle Allen who championed the project and to our staff at Greystone. To Sugar Productions and our director, Brian Bain. And to Drake Mills for giving the project a green light." Johnston is also a Ruston native and graduate of Cedar Creek in Ruston and Louisiana Tech.

The campaign, featuring the legendary Terry Bradshaw as the spokesperson, was meant to portray the human attributes that Community Trust Bank is known for, as well as create an aura of approachability as the bank continues to grow in Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana.

"Based on the phenomenal response we've seen, I think we accomplished our goals," Johnston added. "But moreover, it's an honor to win the Telly's on behalf of our client and partners, Community Trust Bank. The awards are affirmation of what quality work combined with a quality product can do."

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit.

"The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video," said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. "The Community Trust Bank commercials illustrate The Greystone Project's and Community Trust Bank's creativity, skill and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production."
