Parish distributes 13th check
Teachers and support staff with the Ouachita Parish school system have a little something extra to look forward to in the coming days.
They will receive their so-called 13th checks this week.
Ouachita Parish Schools Business Manager Juanita Duke says the checks would be issue today (Thursday).
The checks were funded through the school system's share of a parish-wide sales tax. The parish school system shares the revenues with Monroe City Schools. The parish receives 69 percent of the revenues, while the city gets 31 percent of the funds collected.
