Russell selects new colonel, chief Sheriff-Elect Jay Russell announced the promotion of Major James Purvis to the rank of colonel and Marc Mashaw as the new Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy.
"Mashaw will provide staff assistance and work in close cooperation with all supervisors of the department in areas of planning, training, inspection and personnel. His broad experience and ability to work with everyone will serve him well in this position," Sheriff Elect Jay Russell said.
"Purvis brings 25 years of experience from Patrol, Metro, Investigations and the Special Crimes Apprehension Team (SCAT) to this position at the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office.
