Murder-suicide in West Monroe

A dispute between an estranged husband and his wife ended in tragedy last week, with the wife's murder and the husband's suicide in the parking lot of a West Monroe fast food restaurant.

The incident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. Friday at a Sonic Drive-In in the 5300 block of Cypress Street, according to Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office investigators.
OPSO Maj. Jason Pleasant said an employee of the Sonic, Katherine West, 35, of Jonesboro, was seen on video arriving at work and checking the mail.

Katherine West was returning to her car when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver of that vehicle, Desmond West, 34, of Bossier City, exited the vehicle and approached his wife.
