Monroe to host 2013 LHSAA State Basketball Championships What is Louisiana Tech's loss is Monroe's gain? The 2013 Lousiana High School Sports Association State Championship in Boys and Girls basketball will be held at ULM's Fant Ewing Coliseum.
After scheduling conflict at La Tech, the Monroe area was awarded the host bid for next year's tournament.
"This is an excellent opportunity for Monroe to step in and host these games that draw players, parents, family and fans from across the state to stay and and eat at our local hotels and restaurants," Monroe-West Monroe Conventions and Visitors Bureau spokeswoman Shelia Snow said.
ULM is no stranger to hosting LHSAA events. Last year, Fant Ewing Colesium was the site of the Northern Semifinals for the boys and girls basketball.
Several thousand people packed Fant Ewing to watch the Class 4A semifinal boys playoff game against eventual state champion Peabody and Neville. For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
