New businesses in the works

I want to begin today with a little nostalgia from 37 years in the real estate business. I was first hired by a Dallas development company that specialized in office buildings in the Dallas Metro Market.

After a couple of years of managing and leasing office space, the market became saturated and the company decided I was not nearly as good as I thought I was and terminated me. I then decided to move back home to the Monroe area and continue in real estate. I joined a local firm chosen solely because they had the largest ads in the local newspaper and I determined on that basis they must be the most successful.

After three years I started my own real estate firm, which no one remembers, called Roark-Cloyd Gallery of homes. Since I didn't have enough money to run the largest ad in the newspaper I ran the largest ad I could possibly afford and waited for the phone to ring on Monday morning.
