West Nile returns

A potentially deadly mosquito-borne virus has returned to the parish for another year, according to the state Department of Health and Hospitals.

A test pool in Monroe's Garden District neighborhood has tested positive for the West-Nile virus, Ouachita Parish Mosquito Control announced Friday.

Mosquito Control director Shannon Rider said the pools were collected between May 23 and May 25.
