River Reads features local author

A book by local author William Caverlee will be the centerpiece of a community-wide reading effort this summer.

The Ouachita Parish Public Library will center the River Reads summer reading program around Caverlee's collection, Amid the Swirling Ghosts and Other Essays.
"We are excited that a local author's work has been selected as our River Reads book for 2012," said library director Robin Toms.

"William Caverlee's work is familiar to readers, and his book offers a wide array of entertaining subjects that offers something to everyone," Toms said. "We are honored that Mr. Caverlee has agreed to be on hand for many of our programs and events."

River Reads is the library's summer reading program for adults. The program is aimed at encouraging area residents to read the same book, then participate in dialogue, discussion and activities that widen the understanding of the book's topic.
