The cause of the fire that destroyed a pavilion at Kiroli Park in West Monroe may remain a mystery.

The fire broke out in the early morning hours of May 16. Investigators were on the scene to determine the cause, but West Monroe Parks and Recreation Director Doug Seegers said there had been no determination of the cause of the blaze.
Meanwhile, work continues to clear away the debris from the pavilion to make way for new construction.

"Damaged trees will start coming down next week," Seegers said.

In addition to destroying the pavilion, the fire caused significant damage to a stand of trees surrounding the structure.
