The future is looking bright for one of the region's top employers, according to Fortune magazine.

Fortune released its ranking of American companies last week.

Headquartered in Monroe, CenturyLink has been listed on the Fortune 500 since 2010, when it debuted at 423.

This year, the magazine's listing of top-grossing companies in the nation saw CenturyLink break into the top 200. Fortune ranked CenturyLink at 171.
