OCS all everything Mark Laird has decided to walk on at LSU to compete for the football and baseball teams this upcoming seasons.

With a 4.0 GPA and the scholarships the he has earned, Laird will have his education paid for thus becoming an added jewel to the Tigers' recruiting crown.

Laird was named MVP of the Class 1A state championship games in both football and baseball, a rare distinction, this past season.

In his four seasons with the OCS Eagles' football team, Laird rewrote the OCS record book for receiving with 183 receptions for 4082 yards and 46 receiving TDs. He averaged 22.3 per catch throughout his high school career.

In addition to his skills at wide receiver, Laird was also an excellent kickoff return man for OCS with 35 returns for 1019 yards with 4 returned for touchdowns. In his four years returning kicks, Laird averaged over 29 yards a return.

Laird's skills were not just limited to special teams and offense. From 2007 - 2011, Laird had 22 interceptions with 167 return yards with 2 going for touchdowns.

Football is not the only sport Laird has excelled at during high school career. Laird career batting record for OCS was .454 batting average with 168 hits, 26 doubles, 9 triples and 5 home runs. He also contributed 78 RBI in his four year career.

As a pitcher, Laird carried a 1.00 career ERA with 115 strike outs and only allowed 99 hits in 139.2 innings pitched.

Laird will enroll at LSU this June in time to take advantage of summer conditioning programs with the Tigers.
