Salanoa Earns Sun Belt All-Tournament and College Sports Madness All-Conference
After leading the ULM softball team to victory against Troy in the Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship, Janel Salanoa was named to the Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament Team. Salanoa also capped the 2012 season with a selection to College Sports Madness' Sun Belt-All Conference Second Team.
The native of San Jose, Calif., belted two huge home runs against the Trojans which fired up the ULM offense that eventually claimed a 10-4 victory. It was the first time since Apr. 17, 2010 that a Warhawk hit two home runs in a single game.
She batted .300 for the tournament after going 3-for-10 with one walk. She scored a team-high-tying three runs and three RBIs while collecting nine total bases to slug .900 percent.
For the season, Salanoa made the College Sports Madness Sun Belt All-Conference Second Team as an infielder who highlighted the Warhawks at the plate with a .308 average. She led the team in hits (44), at bats (143), RBIs (26) and total bases (67) and was second in home runs (5) and triples (1). She also stole 16 bases on 17 attempts, the second highest for ULM.
