Sewer work proceeds

Work continues on two projects to replace aging sewer lines along two of West Monroe's busiest thoroughfares.

West Monroe Mayor Dave Norris said the projects along North 5th Street and Mill Street are moving forward, albeit slowly.

"Underground work is always slow and complicated," Norris said. "You often find issues that are unexpected because you can't always see what the issues are until you find them."

The projects are being funded by both locally generated tax revenues and through the state Community Development Block Grant program, or CDBG.
