Fire destroys Kiroli Park pavilion

A fire late Tuesday night destroyed an open-air pavilion in West Monroe's Kiroli Park.

Park director Doug Seegers said the incident began around 11:15 p.m., when the West Monroe Fire Department responded to a 911 call at the park.

Seegers said the 4,500-square-foot pavilion was a total loss but added that it could have been much worse.

"The West Monroe Fire Department did a remarkable job keeping the fire from spreading into the woods," said Seegers.
