System looks to implement change with program

Rachel Scott was the first to die in the school shootings at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., in April 1999. But her legacy lives on in a program the Ouachita Parish School System hopes to adopt this fall.

Darrell Scott, father of 17-year-old Rachel, established Rachel's Challenge to encourage students to live the kindness that his daughter embodied.

Ouachita Parish School Superintendent Bob Webber said Rachel is now remembered not for her death but because of the kind of person she was.
