The West Monroe Senior Center hosted its 30th Annual Crawfish Boil last week.
The event is held each year in celebration of Older Americans' Month, a nationwide effort to recognize senior citizens and their contributions to society.

More than 1,000 seniors joined senior center staff, support personnel and volunteers at the West Monroe Convention Center for the crawfish boil Friday, May 11.

"It just gets bigger and better every year," said program director Cynthia Holland.
The month of May is designated Older Americans' Month. The national Council on Aging encourages senior centers throughout America to host events honoring seniors for "their wisdom and contributions to the community," according to Holland.
