PAWS needs help Saturday at shelter

PAWS of Northeast Louisiana will host a "Day of Caring" by organizing a beautification day at the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter on Saturday, May 19.

The eighth annual "Day of Caring" will be at the parish shelter, located off Well Road in West Monroe.

Volunteers will assist shelter employees by performing tasks such as cleaning water buckets and dog houses, performing yard work, conducting light maintenance and repairs and by organizing supplies.

The shelter accepts many animals in the warmer months and that increase puts a strain on necessary supplies such as bleach, Pine Sol, laundry detergent and non-clumping cat litter.  The shelter can always use canned and dry food for puppies and kittens, as well as adult dog and cat foods.
