Drainage repairs and improvements that are needed throughout Ouachita Parish would cost more than $100 million, according to a comprehensive drainage plan submitted to the Ouachita Parish Police Jury.

Police Jury finance chairman Walt Caldwell said it was unlikely the money would ever become available to pay for the more than 100 drainage projects throughout Ouachita Parish.

"There's no way we're going to be able to do that," Caldwell said. "It will have to be done entirely by grants."

The total price tag of the comprehensive drainage plan was almost $130 million.
Former parish engineer Tom Holtzclaw presented the plan to the Police Jury at a regular meeting Monday night.
