West Monroe readies fire station

Residents of one of West Monroe's most densely populated areas could see response times to emergency calls reduced significantly beginning this weekend.
Fire Chief Bobby Buchanan anticipates a new fire station on Otis Street in northern West Monroe to be open and running by Saturday.

"This station basically will service everything from Parkwood north to the City Limits and then west to Warren Drive," Buchanan said.

Fire Station No. 3 sits on Otis Street, near Riverside Golf Course and Flannigan, essentially in the middle of the city's primary residential area, according to Buchanan.
