The federal corruption trial of Ouachita Parish Sheriff Royce Toney and one of his top deputies could be delayed until the fall due to the unavailability of courtroom space.

In February, a federal grand jury indicted Toney and Maj. Michael Davis on 19 counts each of identity theft, fraud and obstruction of justice. Toney also was charged with an additional count of obstructing justice.

The trial date for the two remains set for July 16, but it could be moved into August or September, according to minutes from a status conference held last week.
