Iron Ladies of Sports - The toughest gals around stand by their man

Behind every great man, is a great woman. You hear this saying a lot in the coaching profession. Besides the great women whose husbands serve in our armed forces, few family sacrifice so much for their community as the coaches family.

Legendary Hall of Fame Coach and television announcer John Madden once described the job of a coach's wife.
"They talk about how hard coaches work," Madden said. "They work 18, 20 hours a day. They sleep on a couch. They don't come home. You know, that's not the hard job. The hard job is a coach's wife, believe me. The job of the coach's wife, she has to be mother, father, driver, doctor, nurse, coach, everything, because the coach is out there working."

While their husbands are racking up the victories and fame, these ladies quietly stand by their men. They are in the stands at every game amongst the cheers and boos. Their lives unfold before the community like a book opening its cover. They have to share their family with the community, but these iron ladies wouldn't have it any other way. They are the toughest gals around.
