Claiborne Christian semifinal bound - CCS knocks off Northside Christian 8-3
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The number three seeded Claiborne Christian Crusaders looked like a team that was on a mission to claim their fourth LHSAA Class C state title in five years with a dominate comeback quarterfinal victory over the Northside Christian Warriors.

Even though the Crusaders fell behind three to nothing going into the bottom of the third inning, CCS never lost it composure as they blasted the Warriors for eight unanswered run on their way to an 8-3 victory in front of a packed house at Claiborne Christian.

CCS was led on the mound by Zach Osbon who pitched six innings with 10 strike outs. Crusader freshman pitcher Wesley Drake took the mound in the seventh and closed the Northside Christian (10-10) baseball season without giving up a run.

With the win, CCS will advance to play the Georgetown Bulldogs next Friday at McMurray Park in Sulphur in the Class C semifinals. The number seventh ranked Bulldogs pulled of the upset knocking off number two seeded Maurepas 13-9 last Thursday.

The time for the semifinal game has yet to be announced by the LHSAA.
