This past Monday, the River Oaks Mustangs travelled to Holly Springs, MS for game one of the semifinal in the MSIAS Class AA baseball playoffs against the Marshall Academy Patriots (18-14).

The Patriots took advantage of the their opponent's long travel schedule by scoring one run in the first and six runs in the third in route to a 6-2 victory in game one.

The leading hitters for the Mustangs were James Rockett (2 hits, 1 HR), Gentry Johnston (2 hits) and Ryan MacGregor (2 hits).

The Marshall Academy Patriots (17-14 / District 1-AA Champions) advanced to the semifinals thanks to a 2-0 series victory over Oak Hill Academy.

Game two and three will be played at River Oaks on Thursday, May 3rd. Game 2 first pitch is slated for at 4:00 p.m. If River Oaks wins, game three will begin immediately following game 2.
Marshall is coached by Bart Jenkins and his assistant is Craig Dailey.
