A Louisiana State Police investigation continues into possible criminal conduct at the city of Monroe's engineering department.

Meanwhile, 4th Judicial District Attorney Jerry Jones said he is on hold waiting for the investigators to finish their jobs.

"The investigation is ongoing," Jones said. "We are waiting on the State Police to deliver the final report."

The investigation began when city officials discovered payroll irregularities in the engineering department. The city referred the matter to the Legislative Auditor in Baton Rouge for further evaluation.
