A Monroe health clinic has been awarded a federal grant to expand its health care offerings to the region.

Primary Health Services Center on DeSiard Street in Monroe has been awarded $5 million in capital improvement funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The $5 million PHSC received represents the lion's share of some $8.5 million in Affordable Care Act grants for Louisiana announced Tuesday.
PHSC CEO Catherine Tonore said the money would pay for much-needed new space at the facility.

"This funding will enable PHSC to expand its existing primary care and behavioral health services into a new facility," Tonore said.
