Mulhearn's expands Chapel Mausoleum

Mulhearn Memorial Park in Monroe has broken ground on an expansion to its Chapel Mausoleum. The expansion will add 366 spaces for cremated remains at the company's Memorial Park Cemetery.

Cemetery co-owner Mike Mulhearn said the first stage of the project will open 100 cremation niches.

"We can expand that through our development in phases," Mulhearn said. "We've incorporated the different technologies that have come into play and tried to put those into place, so that for generations to come we'll have choices for families."
Mulhearn said the company had been working with architects for about 18 months to design the project. It will use the same marble as the original mausoleum but will include a climate-controlled space.
