Hargrove resigns from WM/WO Chamber

The West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new president after the resignation of Paul Hargrove.

Hargrove resigned this week to pursue other interests.

"I'm going back into business for myself in the technology sector," Hargrove said. "I certainly enjoyed my time at the chamber, but this opportunity was too good to pass up."

Hargrove was appointed chamber president in 2010, after his predecessor, Mary Ann Newton, accepted an economic development position with Entergy.

Hargrove took a leave of absence from his post during his unsuccessful campaign last fall for Ouachita Parish Tax Assessor.

He previously served two terms on the Ouachita Parish Police Jury, where he was finance committee chairman.

Hargrove has a background in corporate finance and accounting.

The chamber news release announcing Hargrove's resignation was issued Wednesday morning.

In the release, the chamber also requested resumes for the open president position and for an office manager.
