Musicians wow DeltaFest crowds

More than 20 local and nationally known bands delighted audiences at the 2012 DeltaFest, held over the weekend at the Monroe Civic Center.

From rock-a-billy to rap, there was a musical offering to please virtually every taste.
The festivities opened Thursday night, with a performance by Grammy Award winning Christian rockers Jars of Clay. The festival closed with a performance by local favorites The Downtown Wigs.

Monroe Community Affairs director John Ross said the preliminary attendance count indicated 6,305 attendees over the four-day festival.
The city had hoped to draw more than 6,500 with the 2012 DeltaFest offerings, according to Ross.
