Moran gets life for 2011 WM murder

A West Monroe man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the shooting death of Roderick McCullen.

Fourth Judicial District Court Judge James Boddie sentenced Aljerwon Moran, 23, to life in prison, at hard labor for McCullen's murder. Moran also received a second, 30-year sentence for attempted murder stemming from a second victim of the 2011 incident.

In February, a jury convicted Moran of shooting McCullen in the back as McCullen fled the scene. Boddie described McCullen's shooting as "execution style."
The case against Moran was prosecuted by assistant district attorneys Neal Johnson and Mennon Campbell.
